The South Africa-based Realness Institute is looking for 6 African screenwriters for the Episodic Lab, a program it is developing in collaboration with Netflix. the deadline for applications is January 31, 2021<\/span>.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Realness Institute<\/a> founded in 2016 is a platform whose mission is to shed light on African stories honestly told by African filmmakers. Since its creation, the institute has organized several programs (Realnes Residency, Creative Producer Indaba<\/em><\/a>) for filmmakers from the continent and supported around twenty films in 13 African countries. Among the notable films she has accompanied we can mention Rafiki<\/strong> (Kenya \/ 2018) by Wanuri<\/em> Kahiu, I’m Not A Witch<\/strong> (2017) by Rungano Nyon<\/em>i, Akasha<\/strong> (Sudan) by Hajooj Kuka.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n As part of its Episodic Lab program that it organizes in partnership with the American streaming giant Netflix<\/a>, Realness Institute is looking for 6 African screenwriters. Note that these writers must come exclusively from Nigeria<\/strong>, Kenya<\/strong>, and South Africa<\/strong>. The program will extend over 3 months during which each screenwriter will be supervised by script-doctors and producers in order to develop serial projects. At the end of the program, during which each candidate will receive a monthly endowment of $ 2000, each screenwriter will have the opportunity to pitch their project to Netflix. Successful projects will be developed for production.<\/span><\/p>\n
