The Cinema Week unveiled a few days ago the face of the second edition of this event dedicated to African and Afro cinemas.<\/span> The director and producer Macky Kidy A\u00efcha.<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Macky Kidy A\u00efcha<\/span> will be the face of the second edition of The Cinema Week<\/a>.<\/span> She succeeds Emy Dany Bassong who had this responsibility for the first edition of this festival<\/a> dedicated to African and Afro cinemas.<\/span> The organizing committee therefore perpetuates the idea of associating its event with the image of an important figure in the cinema of the country where the festival takes place.<\/span> After Cameroon for the first edition, the festival is putting its bags down in Niger for this second edition which will be held from March 26 to April 2, 2022<\/em> in Niamey.<\/span> The organizing team chose the director and producer specialized in the documentary Macky K. A\u00efcha<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the fact that the second edition of The Cinema Week<\/em> will be held in Niger, the choice of this personality is part of the fact that Macky K. A\u00efcha<\/a> is a key figure in cinema in Niger.<\/span> Holder of a master’s degree in Creative Documentary Making obtained at Gaston Berger University in Senegal thanks to a grant from the University of Grenoble \/ AFRICADOC, she has several documentary films to her credit: Moi et ma maigreur<\/strong> (2012),<\/span> Savoir faire le lit<\/strong> (2013) and certainly one of his most awarded films L’Arbre sans fruit<\/strong> (2016) which received more than 70 distinctions at festivals around the world.<\/span> In 2017, she founded the company Tabou Production<\/em><\/a>, a company with which she produced her very first feature-length documentary Zinder<\/strong> (2021), which since its release has received a favorable critical reception and continues its journey through festivals around the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

To his commitment as a filmmaker, we must also note his social commitment.<\/span> A\u00efcha is a trainer of trainers in mobile cinema.<\/span> She supervises young people on the techniques of facilitation of debates around short films made on real conflicts in regions of Niger and border with other countries of the West Africa sub-region.<\/span> These films deal with community resilience and violent extremism.<\/span> It also supervises a dozen young people each year thanks to the support of the United States Embassy in Niger, an initiative that gave birth to the Short Film Festival which promotes young Nigerien talents.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
