Nominated for the Oscar for Best International Film 2021, the film did not make it past the second selection stage but will be released in the US on 02 April 2021.

This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection was among the films in the running for the Oscar for Best International Film 2021. But the Lesotho film directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese did not make it to the second round. However, this does not take away from the film’s success at various festivals around the world (Sundance Film Festival, African Film Festival, etc.).

Thanks to its American distributor Dekanalog, the film will be released in the US on April 2. This is good news for the film, which is starting a new life and is going to conquer American moviegoers. The news was announced on social networks by Cait Pansegrouw, co-producer of the film and by the distribution company.

The film tells the story of a village threatened with forced relocation due to the construction of a reservoir, an 80 year old widow finds a new will to live and ignites the spirit of resilience in her community.
