“How to Ruin Christmas : the Wedding” is the new original  Netflix  creation in South Africa. The series started on 16 December 2020 on the streaming platform.

After Blood and Water and Queen Sono, Netflix returns with a new original series shot in South Africa. where the series had a serious character exploring the thriller and the thriller gender, How to Ruin Christmas is more in the comedy gender. with episodes lasting an average of 30 minutes, the series offers a story full of emotions, gags and laughter.  This highlights a multicultural union between Sellos who are from Tswana tribe and Twalas who are Zulu.

it is a series inspired by the local realities in South Africa, in a relaxed and zany style. the production certainly made a point of approaching its realities in a rather flexible tone. it is the story of Tumi who returns after several years for the Christmas holidays to attend the wedding of her sister Beauty. what should be a perfect Christmas wedding falls apart because of the prodigal daughter Tumi who makes a lot of mistakes.

The star of this series is 35 years old  South African Actress Busi Lurayi. In 2006 and 2011, she received several awards: the inaugural SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award) for the  best actress in a television comedy and the Golden Award for the best actress in a television comedy in 2011. she has been known for the films and series in which she has acted, including: City Ses’la (2005), wild at Heart (2007), ER (2006), Sokhulu and Partners II (2011), S.I.E.S (2012) and Vutha (2020).
