The Durban FilmMart opened its call for projects on December 10th. The continent’s film project leaders can apply and receive specific support to produce their works.
In a press release made public on December 10, 2020, The Durban FilmMart Institute launched the call for projects for the 2021 edition of Durban FilmMart. A call for projects which closes on February 21, 2021. Project leaders from Africa can submit their projects for feature films and documentaries. An independent committee of the Durban FilmMart Institute will choose, from among all the projects submitted, 10 feature films and 10 feature films that will receive specific support. This support will include: putting project leaders in contact with mentors for two days and then putting project leaders in touch with financiers, buyers and distributors around the world.
The aim of the Durban FilmMart which always runs in parallel with the Durban International Film Festival is to “stimulate the growth of the African film industry through the development of film projects and to network African filmmakers on the continent and in the rest of the world, “according to Durban FilmMart Institute CEO Magdalene Reddy.
