The closing ceremony of the 5th edition of Les Journées du Jeune Cinéaste took place on August 14, 2022 at the Sita Bella hall in Yaoundé. An evening filled with emotions with a panel of movie stars and during which seven prizes were awarded to the best.
The end clap for the 5th edition of Journées du Jeune Cinéaste was given this Sunday, August 14 in front of an audience of prestigious guests. And who says prestigious guests also says a lot of chic and glamor. Many movie stars from all over the country were present. An opportunity for moviegoers who came in large numbers to commune with their idols.
It is the Cameroonian actress and producer Lucie Memba Bos who was the godmother of this edition placed under the theme “Cinema, education and globalization: what content for our youth?”. In addition to her activities as sponsor of the event, the producer of Chatiots of the Gods also hosted a Master class for aspiring filmmakers. Other activities were also on the program for the 4 days that the festival lasted: workshops, conferences-debates, professional meetings, networking and the main activity: film screenings.
The evening was also an opportunity to reward some films about the twenties in competition this year. The jury for this edition was made up of actor Timoleon Boyogueno as president of the jury, journalist Monica Nkodo, director and screenwriter Joseph Raphael Akama, journalist and film critic Pelagie Ng’onana, and actor Libota Mcdonald. After viewing the various films, they awarded seven prizes:
- Best Child Performance : Adrielle Dalia Mbia in the movie Monster directed byr Jean Marc Anda
- Best Actress : Fecilité Asseh in the movie Monster rdirected by Jean Marc Anda
- Best Male Hope : Hortarien Fotso in the movie Rose directed by Achille Tekoumo
- Best Screenplay : La vie en prose of Cedric Mboumi
- Best Director : Rose directed by Achille Tekoumo
- Best Cameroonian film : Jericho rdirected by Fabrice Bekono
- Special Jury Mention : Seul contre l’or directed by Eric Dipo
Five training grants were offered by the godmother Lucie Memba Bos to young film enthusiasts.
To mark the 5 years of existence of Journées du Jeune Cinéaste, a magnificent cake was cut by the godmother in the company of the promoter and director of the event Maimounatou Bourzaka.
