Released on December 26, 2021 on Netflix, season 1 of the documentary series, “Made by Design” presents through 13 episodes, 13 leaders of the sector of architecture and design against the backdrop of Nigeria.
This project is a creation of Titi Ogufere, CEO of Essential Media Group (EMG), President of the International Federation of Interior Architects (IFI) in partnership with Abiola Matesun, producer, double winner of the Emmy Awards, and director of this documentary series . In this inaugural season, the director immerses us in the work, lives and inspirations of Nigerian luminaries in interior architecture and design. Indeed, it reveals to us the faces behind the most remarkable architectural projects of Nigeria but also the rigor of this world, which makes functionality as vital. Interviews, which immerse us in the heart of the creative process behind the aesthetic, unique and functional works of the Giant of Africa.
During this first season, Abiola Matesun highlights the ups and downs, but also the complexity of projects related to architecture and interior design, seen and told by architects and designers from Nigeria. We find Toshin Oshinowo, Demi Semande, Studio Lani, Seun Oduwole, Papa Omotayo, Theo Lawson, Osaru Alile, Diseye Tantua, Muni Shonibare, Jackie Aki, Tola Akerele, Dapo Akintunde and Julia Amadi Obi. The opportunity for these 13 leaders during these 13 episodes that make up season 1, to expose to the general public the particularity and the authenticity of their working methods, their philosophies but also their entrepreneurial capacity within an environment where everything is to be created.
An inspiring and didactic work that will have the advantage of arousing vocations and maintaining the creative flame within the new generation of African architects, designers and artists.
