The organising committee of the Cairo International Film Festival has unveiled the dates of its 43rd edition. From 1 to 10 December 2021, the Egyptian capital will welcome films and cinephiles from all over the world for an edition with certainly more innovations than the previous one.
The dates for the 43rd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival have been announced by the festival direction. For this edition of the oldest international film festival organised each year in Africa and the Middle East, the management team plans to offer a rich and diversified programme and several surprises to the cinephiles and other festival-goers who will be present. interview with jetsetmagazine.net, the president of the festival, Mohamed Hefzy, explained the different initiatives that will be implemented by the festival during this edition.
“The programming team and the festival direction are delighted with the challenge this upcoming edition offers us, and we look forward to presenting a diverse and rich programme of films and a selection worthy of the festival’s audience. We aim for more in terms of quality and surprises year after year. Over the past three years, we have strived to achieve our fullest ambitions and greatest success in our programming offering, on the various support platforms offered to professionals by Cairo Industry Days, including Cairo Film Connection which last year offered prizes valued at nearly 250,000. USD to 15 projects of very different quality. Despite the challenges of COVID, film festivals have found a way to adapt and survive, acting as a lifeline for films and filmmakers who have been affected and challenged by the pandemic, including threats such as disrupted productions and closure. Very few festivals have managed to organise a physical edition, and we are proud to say that Cairo was one of them, setting the bar high for an even more successful physical edition this year “
During the 42nd edition of the festival, several awards were presented, including the Golden Pyramid for Lifetime Achievement to the Egyptian screenwriter Waheed Hamed and the British playwright, screenwriter and Oscar winner Christopher Hampton.. The next edition will certainly bring more surprises and innovations.
