In a few days, the Yaoundé Pan-African School Film Festival will open in Yaoundé. Placed under the theme “Cinema and Trades”, it will be held from April 14 to 17, 2021. The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the organizing team on April 9, in the Canal Olympia cinéma hall of Yaoundé .
The filmmakers and journalists were invited on April 9 to the Cinema Canal Olympia in Yaoundé for the press conference to launch the 7th edition of the pan-African school film festival, First Short. The festival which will begin on April 14 at the Sita Bella room in Yaoundé with a climb of the stairs, is placed under the theme “Cinema and Trades”. On the program of this press conference: the presentation of the event, the objectives of the festival, the expected festival-goers, the films present during the First Short and of course the partners of this Festival.
The First Short is organized by the Association Cinevision with the support of the Cameroonian Ministry of Arts and Culture. It is an international festival that has broadcast since its creation in 2014 in Yaoundé, more than a hundred school films. Its objectives are to: create a space for the exchange and dissemination of school films (school films are films made by students of film schools), to offer the Cameroonian and foreign public a program school and hope films selected for their originality and quality. The festival also wants to encourage the creation of conventional cinemas for the consistent distribution of Cameroonian and African school films, to manage and support young talents in artistic, cultural and development projects, to promote cinema not only as a art, but as an industry capable of participating in the cultural, economic and even political development of Cameroon.
If last year the festival could not be held due to the Covid19 pandemic, the organizers of the festival, led by Césaire Mouté, have decided to resume activities this year while respecting the health restrictions linked to the pandemic. This festival intends to attract a diverse audience ranging from professionals to film lovers. On the program for this event this year:
– Opening ceremony with red carpet on Wednesday April 14, 2021 ,
– 3 Master class animated in actorat, sound and production assistantship animated respectively by MAN NO LAP (Jean De Dieu Tchegnebe), Hervé Guemete. All these masterclas will take place at Salle Sita Bella. On Saturday April 17 at 8 a.m., a guided visit to Canal Olympia will take place and from 11 a.m., a football match will pit the Journalists against the Filmmakers and will be held at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza. The film screenings will be held on Thursday April 15 and Friday April 16 from 6 p.m. in the Sita Bella hall.
– The closing ceremony will be held at the Sita Bella hallon Saturday April 17 at 7 p.m.
