News : Serge Abessolo, new boss of Gabonese cinema
ShareTweetShareShare

Actor and producer Serge Abessolo has been chosen to lead the Gabonese Institute for Image and Sound (IGIS), an organization in charge of cinema in Gabon.

It was through the official press release of the Gabonese Council of Ministers of December 17, 2021 that the announcement was made. Actor and producer Serge Abessolo is appointed head of the Institut Gabonais de l’Image et Son (IGIS), the body in charge of public cinema in Gabon created in 2010 to replace CENACI (National Cinema Center) created in 1975. The appointment of Serge Abessolo brings an end to two years of vacation at the head of this state body.

It must be said, the task will be great for Serge Abessolo who we recently saw in the Mami Wata series: the Mystery of Iveza (2021), Cacao (2020) or even Impact (2021). Following his three predecessors, Ivanga Imunga (2010-2014), Henri Joseph Koumba (2014-2017) and Denise Agnossi (2017-2018), he will have to work on the development and influence of Gabonese cinema at the local and pan-African level. and international. He will surely be able to count on his popularity and his growing influence in African 7th art to find partners and support to succeed in this new mission.
