The Senegalese film Baamum Nafi (Nafi’s Father) directed by Mamadou Dia will be released in French cinemas on 9 June 2021. Released in Senegal in 2019, the film was originally scheduled to be released in French cinemas during 2020, but due to the Covid19 pandemic, this could not happen. In favour of easing barrier measures and the reopening of cinemas in France, the film will be on French screens from 9 June 2021. This is possible thanks to the film’s French distributor: Jhrfilms.
Baamum Nafi is the story of two brothers arguing about the marriage of their children. A moderate imam from a small town in northern Senegal fights his extremely religious and powerful brother over the marriage of their children.
