10 young scriptwriters from five African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Togo) have been in writing residency since last April to think and write the second season of the animation series “Junior, des idées en or” (Junior, golden ideas), which highlights the adventures of a group of African children.
The first season of the series “Junior, des idées en or” was produced by French scriptwriters and broadcast on Gulli Africa. According to Christophe Guignement, scriptwriter and cartoonist and co-founder of the Junior House association, which is behind the project: “African scriptwriters are going to talk about the daily lives of African children. This series must be audible for Europeans and, at the same time, identifiable for Africans”. According to him, it will be “the first French series with an international vocation written entirely in French-speaking Africa by Africans“.
The ten scriptwriters, aged between 20 and 33, are supervised by three animation professionals, two French and one Togolese. These scriptwriters followed an initial four-month distance learning course before starting the current writing residency, which is taking place in the village of Alogavie, 22 km from Lomé and will end in July 2021. After this residency, they will again benefit from a two-month distance learning course.
