Iwaju, la nouvelle série africaine produite par Disney sortira en 2022
ShareTweetShareShare

Disney recently announced a collaboration project with pan-African entertainment company Kugali. They will together produce an animated sci-fi series that will premiere on the Disney + streaming service.

Iwaju is a series set in a futuristic version of the city of Lagos, Nigeria. The name Iwaju also designates the future in Yoruba, one of the local languages in Nigeria. While we do not yet have details on the script, we know that social class, innocence and questioning the established order will be among the themes discussed.

Animation cinema in Africa has been booming in recent years. A progression which does not leave indifferent the big cinema production companies in the world.

According to the information available this series will be broadcast on the Disney + streaming platform in 2022. Before Iwaju, the Kugali company became known through comics such as: Kugali Anthology, Lake of Tears, Ukpang, Osita, Nani and Oro . The company is made up of a team from various African countries: Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Kenya, Morocco. Kugali explains that he wants to carry stories whose influences come from all over Africa. A union that is the strength of animation cinema in Africa.

The coming months will allow us to have a lot more information on this project.
