After a successful premiere in Douala last August, “Disappeared” by Romario Tchoupou will be screened on November 19, 2022 at the Lincoln Cinema in Paris. The film, produced by Wouri Studios, is part of a broad campaign to raise awareness about albinism.
With just over 30 films and series produced since 2016, Wouri Studios has established itself as a major player in audiovisual production and vod in Cameroon since its creation. Offering productions with a variety of themes, the Studio directed by Patrick Kengne has engaged with Disappeared in a project with a strong social impact. The film directed by Romario Tchoupou addresses the issue of albinism, a genetic skin disease that still causes discrimination in Cameroon and Africa today.
The film tells the story of Vanessa, a young girl from a poor family who, in addition to the difficulties related to poverty, faces multiple prejudices related to her albinism. The film aims, as the production team says, to “teach the school of resilience” to the albinos of the world.
An immense challenge that Wouri declines into a series of projections/awareness to reach a large number of people. This great awareness campaign started with a preview on August 06 at the Cinéma Eden in Douala. On November 19 the French audience will be able to discover the film at the Lincoln cinema. After that the film will return to Cameroon for multiple screenings throughout the year in high schools and universities.
In the cast, we find Chloe Manon (already appeared in the film The chariot of the gods by Anurin Nwunembom), Murielle Nono And Carole Mamose, whose performance has earned her the Best Supporting Actress award for the LFC Awards to be held on November 24 in Douala. It’s a movie to see. It’s a movie to see.
