At the beginning of November 2021, Les Trois Lascars, a romantic comedy by Boubakar Diallo, began its exhibition in sub-Saharan Africa in the theaters of the Canal Olympia network in French-speaking Africa as well as in the theaters of the Majestic group in Côte d’Ivoire. After 2 months of release, the film has accumulated nearly 50,000 admissions. An excellent score for a film in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa despite the very low number of cinemas. The film, the result of a co-production between Les Films du Dromadaire, Les Films de l’Avalon and Canal+ International, has been watched in 12 countries in Africa.
Our public is more than ever demanding African images and emotions.
These rather excellent entries come to comfort the producers of this film. For Alex Guyot (Les Films de l’Avalon): “This success proves that we can create local works that reach the general public and energize cinemas in West Africa!“ As for Fabrice FAUX, Director of Channels and Content at CANAL+INTERNATIONAL, this exceptional success testifies: “the talent and the work of the teams gathered around the creation of this film, but also to the expertise of the CANAL+ teams for the distribution It demonstrates, and this is crucial for the future, that 100% African creations have the capacity to become the biggest hits on the Continent. CANAL+ is totally committed alongside creators to accelerate and amplify this movement.“
For Boubakar Diallo, director and producer (Les Films du Dromadaire) of the film: “The theatrical success of Les Trois Lascars is the result of the collaboration and complicity of a team that believes in the African continent. Our audience is more than never demanding African images and emotions. We have seen the demonstration of this.“
