The giant of the world of streaming becomes a program partner of the 11 edition of Durban Filmmart which takes place from September 4 to 13, 2020.
The world leader in streaming, Netflix, continues to make its mark in Africa. Since its launch in 2016 on the continent, the American firm has continued to expand its catalog of local African production by producing and purchasing products from South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Senegal and many others.
This year Netflix becomes one of the Durban FilmMart partners. An important meeting for networking and financing film productions on the continent. The event launched 11 years ago is held in partnership with the Durban International Film Festival and the Durban Film Office. a moment during which many projects come looking for buyers from producers’ distributors.
As part of its action Netflix will host a session entitled “Made by Africans, Watched by the World” during the event. A meeting which will be animated by Dorothy Ghettuba -In charge of the original contents – and Ben Amadasun in charge of co-productions in Africa. During this workshop, it will be question of how the platform works with African creators to promote their content.
