The news was unveiled yesterday on social networks, two Cameroonian films have been added to the Netflix catalogue. “Therapy” by Anurin Nwunembom and Mussing derrick and “Fishersman’s Diary” by Enah Johnscott opens a new chapter for Cameroonian productions.
The month of March began with two big news for Cameroonian filmmakers. On Monday, 1st March 2021, in the space of a few hours, we learned on social networks that two Cameroonian films had entered the Netflix catalogue. Therapy by Anurin Nwunembom and The Fisherman’s Diary by Enah Johnscott thus became the very first Cameroonian films on the platform of the American streaming giant. After the two announcements, messages of congratulations poured in from all over the web.
Fisherman’s Diary by Enah johnscott joins the catalog after collecting numerous awards at numerous festivals around the world. Several indiscretions already hinted at the arrival of Fisherman’s Diary on the streaming platform even if the contract was not finalized until January 2021. It is the film Therapy by Anurin Nwunembom and Mussing Derrick which is truly the big surprise. The team of the film, which had already signed with netflix in October 2020, had preferred to play the card of silence and sobriety before the official announcement. Therapy will be broadcast exclusively on the streaming platform. For now, very little information is available about the film but everything suggests that the film will benefit from Netflix’s communication machine.
