As a prelude to the release of L’Accord, Cameroonian director Frank Thierry Léa Malle invited the Cameroonian press to a conference at the French Institute in Yaoundé. A moment during which some excerpts from the film were unveiled.
Among the most anticipated films of this year 2022, the film L’ACCORD figures prominently. Frank Thierry Lea Malle‘s second feature film, the movie will be officially released in all cinemas in French-speaking Africa on April 29, 2022. But before that date, a privileged few will have the opportunity to discover the film in preview at the Palais des Yaoundé Congress on April 21, 2022. And to communicate more about the release of this 1h30 film, the company Inception Arts & Com, which produces the film, invited the local press to talk about the outlines of this long-awaited film.
During the press conference held yesterday at the French Institute in Yaoundé, the director and his team unveiled a 15-minute extract from the film. A small excerpt sufficient to announce the tone of this film which is intended to be dramatic and one of the subjects of which will be rape. In the little piece of film presented, we discover a couple who drags the devil by the tail and especially who is on the verge of implosion because their daughter has been raped. Difficult and traumatic situation for the father (played by Moussa Sindjah) who wants to know who could have done such a thing to his daughter. Difficult situation also for the mother (played by Thérèse Ngono) but who, despite the pain, sees it as an opportunity to bring their family out of suffering because opposite, a well-to-do family, and visibly involved in the rape, offers them a large sum of money to cover up the case. Will they accept to sign this agreement? It will not only be a question in this film of rape but also of honor as the director will specify later.
L’ACCORD, co-produced and distributed by Canal+ International, remains in the path taken by the director since his first short films, that of tackling strong social themes that are in tune with the times. The continuation of the conference made it possible to know a little more the contours of this film whose budget is estimated around 60 million FCFA. A budget brought together thanks to the co-production of Canal+ and TV5 Monde (which have become key partners of the director-producer) but also many local structures who believed in the project and decided to support it. Alongside the director we were able to discover the young actress Vanessa Ambassa (who takes his first steps in the cinema with this first big role) who embodies in the film flora and whose rape is the driving force of this feature film. But also a good part of the main cast made up of: Thérèse Ngono, Moussa Sindjah, Jakin Touwole, Anthony Ndeutch and Reine Mpouadina.
“In 2022, we no longer have the right to say that there are no cinemas in Cameroon.” wanted to specify the director, because the film will actually be broadcast from April 29, 2022 in cinemas in Cameroon: Canal Olympia Yaoundé, Canal Olympia Douala, Cinéma Eden, Cinema Genesis, French Institute of Cameroon in Yaoundé and Douala. The film will also benefit from a release in several French-speaking African countries in theaters of the Canal Olympia network in Africa, in Majestic cinemas in Côte d’Ivoire and in Magic cinemas in Mali. The public is therefore eagerly awaited in the theaters to experience a good moment of cinema!
