Aloe Vera, the second feature film by Ghanaian director Peter Sedufia, will hit cinemas in French-speaking Africa from May 14, 2021. A new life for this feature film released in March 2020 in Ghana.
On March 06, 2020, Aloe Vera, the second feature film by Ghanaian director Peter Sedufia, was officially released at the SylverBird cinema in Accra. Aloe Vera is a warm and touching romantic comedy deals with the issue of differences and cohabitation in society. The film, which had all the ingredients to be a commercial success in Ghana, will unfortunately flop due to the Covid-19 pandemic which will close all cinemas.
The cinemas being still closed in Ghana, the film crew decided to turn to the cinema of Francophone Africa where my restrictive measures linked to the pandemic have been partially lifted. With a partnership with Canal Olympia, which owns around thirteen cinemas in nearly 9 French-speaking countries, it is a new life that is offered to the film. From May 14, 2021, Aloe Vera will therefore conquer this new market with programming in the 13 Canal Olympia theaters in French-speaking Africa.
For Peter Sedufia of the film French-speaking Africa is a market that should not be neglected ; “When you put all the French-speaking African countries together, that represents a huge market for filmmakers. It is therefore a market that Ghanaian filmmakers should also look into. If you make a very good film that is screened in French-speaking countries , you don’t know which production house is watching or which filmmaker is watching and you may want to partner with future productions. ”
