Cameroonian cinephiles will have the opportunity to discover the work of several Filmmakers who, despite the pandemic and the confinement, have continued to show resilience and creativity. Buried by Françoise Ellong
It is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this end of the year in Cameroon. This second feature film by Beninese-Cameroonian Director Françoise Ellong tackles a taboo subject but one that is very topical in Africa: Pedophilia. A subtle but strong incursion into an often sensitive subject. The Director likes sensitive subjects, her first feature film W.A.K.A as well as these short films such as NEK or Ashia were already proof this attachment to strong social subjects. In this feature film 5 young people find themselves in a wasteland to try to bury their past in their own way . Will they succeed? For this feature film which is a closed-door event, Françoise Ellong calls 5 actors to bring this story: Anurin Nwunembom (Ninah’s Dowry, Broken), Lucie Memba (W.A.K.A, Ntah’napi), Assala Kofane (Angles, Into The Den), Emy Dany Bassong (April 2, Les Tchakaï) and Denis Etouka. A beautiful cast of actors who participate in giving impact to this film. The film has just won the special mention during the Ecrans Noirs 2020 festival and the best director award at the Yarha 2020 festival. The premiere of this film will take place on 27 November 2020 at the Canal Olympia Bessengué cinema in Douala at 8 pm.

Chariot Of The Gods by Anurin Nwunembom
Chariots Of The Gods is also one of those long-awaited films. The film was initially scheduled for release in May 2020, but had to be postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This film, directed by Anurin Nwunembom, is described by his team as an African thriller. The film shot on the heights of Mount Manengouba in the small village of Mbouroukou on the Cameroonian coast also addresses a strong social theme. The film is talking about albinism, a genetic defect that causes a deficit in melanin production. In many African societies many people with albinism are still stigmatized and sometimes killed. Chariot Of The Gods decides to tackle this subject and talk about it in this feature film which will be released on December 04, 2020 at the Canal Olympia cinema in Bessengué in Douala. Subsequently, the film will benefit from a national tour in several cities and regions of Cameroon with the support of Orange Cameroon. The producer of the film Lucie Memba and the Director of the film have chosen a pan-African cast which will certainly help give the project an international scope. The trailer for the film is not yet available but you can already get an idea of the casting.
